Without question, one of the greatest things about this area is the people. We have a bunch of highly individual individuals around these parts. So where can you meet the people? A great place to meet your neighbors is at our community center. The Hillsboro Recreation Association organizes multiple athletic teams for the young people to join. There are numerous workshops, classes and other activities for people of all ages. Also, look out for signs advertising fundraisers at the community center. These events are great fun, and they are organized to benefit a local resident or family in need. They usually involve a plate meal of some kind (most often BBQ), an auction and music. You can get a tasty meal, buy something you may or may not need and have a great time with your neighbors all at once. Check it out! The Leipers Fork Library is also an excellent place to meet local folks - especially families with children. There are lots of great activities for kids - especially in the summer. Our local grocery stores & restaurants are not just places to shop & eat, they are social hubs of the community. Try stopping by and stay awhile. You’ll meet some great people and learn a lot about the area. Take time to read the various flyers and posters in the windows. Lots of local activities and other items of interest are posted there. And of course, there are the many local events. These events and the venues in which they are located are great places to meet people.Even when there isn’t a specific event happening, there are usually folks strolling around enjoying the atmosphere. |
